Grief and Loss Counseling

Have you lost someone dear to you recently?

Please allow us to present that everyone processes grief differently.

Many people (including therapists) subscribe to the belief that individuals must process five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.

Having worked with countless individuals who have suffered loss in one form or another, we can confidently share with you that the five stages are simply a convenient reference to assist one in understanding feelings that may follow a death or separation.

True, some folks go through all five, while others might skip the bargaining and depression phases (for example), moving straight to the acceptance phase.

Are you in a “stage” of grief?

You most likely clicked on this page because you are still grieving the loss or separation of someone you love. At Lost and Found, we believe that categorizing your feelings into an arbitrary set of stages would not be realistic or even fair to you or an effective form of therapy.

Grief and loss is a very normal process and something most people will be forced to cope with at some point in their lives.  It has been experienced and resolved successfully by countless people. Sometimes, however, the loss is so devastating that the passing of time alone isn’t enough to allow one to move forward.

What can you do to move forward?

At Lost and Found, we will assist you in assessing the condition and mental state you are currently in, what you have already processed, carefully examine what you may expect, and chart out a customized grief counseling plan designed to fit your experiences, which will likely include stages that often overlap.
