Spouses / Partners of Addicts Therapy

I am a broken person. I am tired of making excuses and pretending everything is fine. I am tired of holding this family together. I am tired of your knee-jerk reactions, your mood swings, your perpetual and erupting anger.

I am tired of explaining to our children why you don’t come and eat dinner with us or why your eyes are red or why you haven’t slept for days or why you’re acting stupid.

I am so tired of your drinking. I am just so tired of being tired. If you’re not keeping me up all night accusing me of things, I lay in bed awake wondering what episode I will be dealing with next.

I am tired of keeping this pain that I feel inside all to myself… pretending everything is happy and wonderful in public when the truth is that everything is in turmoil.

Does this sound familiar?  Or perhaps all too familiar?

According to American Addiction Centers, there are as many as 12.5 million wives and husbands suffering from their spouse’s addiction. Maybe you’ve clicked on this page because you are one of them.

Out of love, commitment, and/or lack of any visible alternative, you, your physical, mental, emotional, and sometimes spiritual sanity remain exposed to the roller-coaster ride guaranteed to accompany the relationship to an addict.

At Lost and Found, I work with addicts of all kinds, as well as spouses who realize that they have been emotionally damaged as they have attempted to be supportive through their partner’s countless attempts to achieve sobriety from drugs, alcohol, pornography, etc.

I will help you discover the differences between supportive and enabling behaviors, how to achieve greater peace of mind despite your circumstances, and ultimately how to move forward while achieving positive change in your relationship as well as in your own life.
